Scoutflo FAQ
What is Scoutflo?
Scoutflo is an AI SRE platform that completely changes how your team handles production incidents. Instead of spending hours manually digging through logs, correlating metrics, and trying to figure out what broke, Scoutflo automatically analyzes your entire infrastructure context and delivers precise root cause analysis with ready-to-execute fixes. Think of it as having a senior SRE who knows your entire system architecture, remembers every past incident, and can instantly connect the dots when something goes wrong.
Most engineering teams today are drowning in alert noise and spending way too much time on incident response. Your engineers are pulled away from building features to play detective with production issues. Scoutflo eliminates this firefighting by building institutional knowledge that gets smarter with every incident, turning your team's hard-earned troubleshooting experience into automated workflows that run 24/7.
How does Scoutflo reduce MTTR?
Scoutflo has complete context of your alerts, how your systems are set up, your logs, and your entire infrastructure. When an alert comes in, Scoutflo gives you a comprehensive root cause analysis within 90 seconds - something that typically takes your team 2 to 3 hours of manual investigation. This dramatically impacts your downtime costs and customer experience.
The platform analyzes full-stack telemetry (logs, metrics, traces, Kubernetes events, deployments) and correlates this data against historical incidents to deliver not just "what's broken" but "why it's broken" and "here's exactly how to fix it based on what worked last time." This reduces investigation from hours to minutes and delivers executable fixes.
What does the control plane do?
Scoutflo's control plane automatically ingests architecture diagrams, past root cause analyses, existing runbooks, and deployment patterns to build a comprehensive knowledge graph of your production environment. It learns your environment organically and preserves institutional knowledge.
The control plane continuously pattern-matches against incident history, surfacing exact workflows that worked before and enabling workflow reuse across the organization without manual documentation or searching through old communications.
How do automated playbooks work?
When Scoutflo generates a root cause analysis, it automatically creates executable runbooks based on proven solutions from your organization's incident history. These personalized workflows understand your infrastructure, deployment patterns, and operational preferences. Every successful resolution becomes a reusable playbook.
Does Scoutflo store my logs?
No. Scoutflo does not store raw log data. The platform processes telemetry in real-time during incidents, extracts relevant insights for root cause analysis, and discards the raw data. Retained artifacts are processed insights: root cause analysis, correlation patterns, successful resolution workflows, and architectural metadata.
This approach minimizes sensitive data exposure and aligns with SOC 2 principles while preserving the knowledge that matters for reliability.
What integrations does Scoutflo support?
Scoutflo integrates with major observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), infrastructure tools (EKS, GKE, ArgoCD, GitHub), and alerting systems (PagerDuty, Slack). The integration approach is non-invasive. Scoutflo plugs into existing data streams without requiring changes to deployment, monitoring, or alerting workflows.
Pricing plans?
Pricing scales with team needs. The free tier provides basic root cause analysis. The Basic plan ($300/month) offers advanced RCA, playbook automation, and standard integrations. Enterprise pricing is custom and includes unlimited control plane capabilities, air-gapped deployments, dedicated support, and custom integrations.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. A 14-day full access trial is available with no credit card required. The trial includes all enterprise features so you can evaluate the platform in your environment.
Security & Compliance
What is Scoutflo's security model?
Scoutflo follows least privilege and read-only access principles. Integrations use IAM roles and service accounts with zero write permissions. All data is encrypted (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest). The platform detects and redacts PII and secrets from processed data and is architected to be unable to access production secrets or credentials.
What compliance certifications does Scoutflo maintain?
Scoutflo is SOC 2 certified, which covers security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of customer data and involves ongoing monitoring over time.
What data residency options are available?
Cloud deployments offer EU and US regions. Self-hosted deployments keep data within your VPC/datacenter. Air-gapped installations provide zero internet connectivity. The incident analysis capabilities remain consistent across residency options.
Does Scoutflo access production secrets?
No. Scoutflo explicitly denies access to secrets management systems (AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault, Kubernetes secrets, etc.). Analysis extracts necessary behavioral insights without accessing actual secrets.
How is incident data handled?
Incident data is processed in real-time without persisting raw telemetry. Retained items are processed intelligence (root cause, workflows, correlation patterns, anonymized metadata). Raw logs, traces, and sensitive telemetry are discarded after analysis.
Technical Implementation
How accurate and reliable is Scoutflo's analysis?
Scoutflo reports 90% confidence in root cause analysis (context-specific). Accuracy is achieved by building behavioral models tailored to your infrastructure and correlating anomalies with historical incident patterns. Confidence scores guide when to trust automated recommendations versus further investigation, and accuracy improves as the platform is validated and corrected by your team.
Does Scoutflo support multi-cluster and multi-cloud environments?
Yes. Scoutflo correlates incidents across EKS, GKE and AKS, mapping service relationships and dependencies regardless of deployment location.
How does Scoutflo help with new SRE onboarding?
Scoutflo auto-maps architecture and preserves knowledge. New SREs can search for service-specific issues and access proven workflows, visualizing topology and dependencies from day one, reducing ramp time and training overhead.
Team Operations
How does Scoutflo preserve institutional knowledge?
Scoutflo captures resolution steps, reasoning, investigation steps, and contextual factors for each resolved incident. This knowledge is encoded into knowledge graph, preventing loss of expertise when engineers leave.
What alert sources does Scoutflo support?
Scoutflo ingests alerts from Prometheus, Sentry, ELK, Slack bots, and custom webhooks, correlating alerts across systems to identify single underlying issues versus separate problems. Custom webhooks allow proprietary or business-specific signals to be included.
Support & Enterprise
How quickly can I get started with Scoutflo?
Initial setup typically takes about 5 minutes to connect observability and infrastructure tools via standard integrations. Scoutflo begins analyzing your environment immediately and delivers initial insights.
What support levels are available?
Basic plans include community Slack access, documentation, and email support. Enterprise customers receive a dedicated Technical Account Manager, priority support and custom integration assistance.
Can Scoutflo be customized for specific integrations?
Yes. Scoutflo's API-first architecture supports deep customization and custom integrations for proprietary systems. Professional services are available to build complex integrations.
What is the typical ROI timeline?
ROI is often apparent within the first week (reduced alert noise, faster triage) and compounds over the first month (prevention of repeat incidents, improved productivity, MTTR improvements). Continued benefits accrue over 6–12 weeks as the platform learns more about your environment.
