# Referrals

## How it works

1. **Capture the impact**\
 Document how Scoutflo has helped your team (metrics, incidents, workflows).
2. **Share your story**\
 Post about your experience on X, LinkedIn, or SRE-focused Slack communities.
3. **Get 500 free investigations**\
 Once approved, we add **500 free AI investigations** to your account.

{% hint style="info" %}
You get credits for sharing *real* impact with the community. No marketing copy required, honest, concrete outcomes are best.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1 – Capture the impact

Document the difference Scoutflo made for your team. Useful examples include:

* **MTTR improvements**
 * Before vs after adopting Scoutflo for P1/P2 incidents.
* **Time saved on investigations**
 * How long typical investigations took before vs after AI-driven RCA.
* **Specific incident stories**
 * A concrete incident where Scoutflo cut hours off resolution time.
* **On-call experience changes**
 * Reduction in alert fatigue or repeated manual digging across tools.

Helpful artifacts:

* Screenshots from Slack threads or incident channels
* Snippets from incident timelines or postmortems
* Before/after reliability or on-call metrics

You do **not** need to share sensitive data. Redact anything customer-specific or confidential before including screenshots or metrics.

### Step 2 – Share your story

Share your experience publicly so other SRE teams can learn from it.

#### Where to post

Common channels:

* **X (Twitter)**
* **LinkedIn**
* **SRE / DevOps Slack communities**

#### How to tag your post

When you post:

* Tag **`@Scout_flo`**
* Tag **`@kalpeshbhalekar`**
* Use the hashtag **`#AISRE`**

If your GitHub or Slack username is not visible in the post:

* Send a quick DM or message with:
 * A link to your post
 * Your GitHub/Slack username
 * The Scoutflo account/org that should receive the credits

This helps us correctly associate your referral with your Scoutflo account.

{% hint style="info" %}
Plain, honest posts work best. “We reduced MTTR by X% using Scoutflo for incident investigation” is more helpful than generic praise.
{% endhint %}

### Step 3 – Get 500 free investigations

Once your post is reviewed and approved, we will:

* Add **500 free AI investigations** to your account
* Complete this within 5 **business days** in normal cases

How it shows up:

* You will see investigation usage in your Scoutflo **dashboard**
* The **billing portal** is the source of truth for actual credits applied

These credits are ideal for:

* Testing Scoutflo with **new teams**
* Rolling out to **new environments** (e.g., additional clusters or regions)
* Trying **new features** without worrying about usage

### Program rules

To keep the program fair and predictable:

* **Maximum 3 referral per month per account**
* **Credits don’t roll over** across months
* Credits apply to **AI investigations** only
* Investigation usage and credits are visible in your dashboard; the billing portal reflects the actual credits applied

{% hint style="warning" %}
Make sure you post from an account / identity we can map to your Scoutflo organization, or DM us with details after posting. Otherwise there may be delays in applying credits.
{% endhint %}

### Why share?

Teams using Scoutflo report:

* **70% faster incident triage**
* **5× MTTR reduction** for P1 incidents
* **40% less on-call toil** (time spent investigating vs building)

Sharing your experience:

* Helps other SRE teams escape alert fatigue and fragmented tooling
* Highlights real-world patterns and use cases that tools documentation alone can’t show
* Gives your reliability team visible credit for hard-won improvements

Your story becomes part of how the SRE community learns what actually works in production.
